So I popped my Craft Fayre Cherry last weekend with Spanglies making its official first outing and what a lovely experience it was. Although I have visited a few small ones before I have never taken part.
I don’t have a lot of stock to take to a craft fayre, as the nature of my business is mainly personalised things, so I just had a few examples of the things I do, but others had boxes and boxes or products. I was quite aware that I didn’t really have anything to ‘Sell’ but as the weather was terrible, I was glad that I didn’t have to unload boxes and boxes of stuff.
With the weather being so bad there weren’t that many people coming in, but it gave myself and the other stall holders a great opportunity to get to know each other and see what we all do. I was quite surprised at the variety of stalls, there were some that overlapped ideas but none that were the same, and a bonus for me no-one really did my kind of thing.
It was really great to see so many talented people in one place, and so many modest people, sharing tips (or just giving them to me – thanks BerryBootique!) and generally supporting each other. I did end up buying more than I made, hey ho! but the experience was well worth it, and to top it off I had a few people who were very interested in my things and two new exciting orders!
So if you have a craft fayre near to you then give it ago, you’ll be amazed by what you will find, its not only knitted tea cozys and ships in a bottle!!!
